Our lab focuses on the development of micro and nanosystems - more specifically in their microfluidic and biomedical applications. Biological realm consisting of biomolecules such as DNA, RNA and proteins along with their assemblages such as cells is an area of active study following development of methods to recognize study and analyse them. The biomolecules and cells are structures in the nanometer to micrometer size and hence require functional devices in their scale to dexterously handle manipulate and interact with them. We strive to understand the fundamental physics and chemistry operating in those scales and build components and systems that are electrically controlled and that operate reliably in interacting with biological world. We propose to use this understanding in developing systems for application in areas as diverse as medical diagnostics, drug discovery, sustained drug delivery, and tools for microbiology.
