Dr. Puri is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). In 2013, he helped found and mentor of Nanospin, a startup that developed a cooling system for computers and electronic devices using a liquid dispersion of magnetic nanoparticles to dissipate waste heat. He is the author of several books and numerous archival papers.
Dr. Puri's research covers the diverse fields of transport phenomena, heat transfer, energy storage, fluid mechanics, various aspects of nanoscience and nanotechnology including self assembly and nanostructure synthesis, combustion and pollutant airborne emissions, mathematical biology, and bioinspired computational biology.
