Application Deadlines

Our application deadlines are listed below. We recognize that foreign applicants may need a number of months to obtain a student visa, after a final decision of admission is made. Funding

Your supervisor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering offers financial support to masters-stream students for up to two years of study and to doctoral-stream students for up to four years of study. The typical level of support with a teaching assistantship is $22,166 for domestic students and $29,766 for International Students. The difference is to partly cover the higher International tuition fees. Due to availability, if a teaching assistantship was not provided in your offer letter then the financial support decreases by $5,453. A graduate funding package may be constructed from a variety of sources including external awards from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), the Ontario Graduate Scholarship Program (OGS), and the as well as research assistantships, teaching assistantships and other McMaster University funding. Some researchers will provide larger funding packages to students, consistent with academic priorities and availability of funding. The funding guarantee does not prevent students from taking more time to complete their degree. Support for such students, however, is not guaranteed.
