Matthew Vogelzang wins gold and sets a new OUA record

The McMaster swim teams had some sensational results over the three-day OUA Championships hosted at Brock University. In the overall standings, the McMaster men's team finished second behind the OUA champion University of Toronto to take the Team Silver, while the Marauder women's team won the Team Bronze behind Western and Toronto, with the Varsity Blues also winning the OUA title.

It was a meet full of personal bests and medals for the Marauders and the complete list of medal winners from all three days of competition is posted below.

Among the McMaster highlights, the men's 200M medley relay team of Eric Anderson, Konrad Bald, Mohmed Eldah, and Matthew Vogelzang won the gold and set a new OUA record. Konrad Bald also set an OUA record in winning the men's 50M Breast event. In the women's 50M Breast McMaster swept the medals with Alex VanOmmen taking gold, Olivvya Chow the silver, and Erin MacFadyen the bronze.

Cameron Bailey was awarded the Dr. Jeno Tihanyi Award for Individual Medley Excellence for the third time in his career, and Bailey was also presented with a Graduating Athlete Award of Distinction. For the Marauder women, both Sarah Taylor and Alexandra VanOmmen were recognized with the Graduating Athlete Award of Distinction.
The Marauder swimmers will now prepare for the CIS Championships being hosted at the University of Toronto, February 20-22.
