Design / Manufacturing Systems Laboratory
Department of Mechanical Engineering
A stepper motor driven miniature Computer Numerical Control (CNC) /
Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) is used for undergraduate instruction.
A Dremill tool is used as the CNC machining spindle drive,
and a Renishaw PH1/TP2 touch trigger probe is used for CMM operation.
All source code was developed at McMaster or from public sources
(such as the NIST Algorithm Testing Service (ATS) source).
This allows students to learn how such devices operate without
Intellectual Property constraints.
