During hot runner channel machining for plastic injection moulds, the width of cut is often very much less than 50 percent. An ACIS Solid Modeller based program was used to automatically re-schedule the machining feed rate to maintain a predetermined uncut chip thickness constraint. A time savings of approximately 20 percent was achieved.
